HERE COME THE BRIDES
DREAMS TO LAST THE YEARS
$19.00 (US) * $23.00 (Can/Mex) * $24.00 (overseas)
In the logger towns of Bridal Veil Mountain during the late 1860s, three brothers, Jason, Jeremy and Joshua Bolt, are in danger of losing their timberland because the men who do the logging are threatening to revolt. Why? Because there are no women for hundreds of miles! In an attempt to keep his men happy, Jason, the oldest brother, borrows money from Aaron Stempel, a rival saw-mill owner, to sail off to Massachusettes to acquire one hundred prospective brides. But there is a catch for borrowing the money -- Jason has to make sure that all of the prospective brides stay in Seattle for at least one year or the mountain is forfeited to Stempel. This wonderful zine contains stories ‘full of hopes and full of fears; full of laughter, full of tears; full of dreams to last the years,’ as the theme song says, and will have you longing for those earlier times where life was more simple. Or was it?
